Mr. and Mrs. Washam,

I have never met you, but after getting to know Donny and hearing him speak so proudly of his family, I know you are a wondrful family who has suffered through so much.

I had the opportunity to spend last weekend with Donny on a mission to Charleston.  We had the opportunity to talk about all the adversities that he and the Washam family has faced over the last couple of years.  I am truly amazed about how strong of an individual Donny is, he is a man of true character.  He is also a man that truly loves his family and his country.  It is obvious that he was raised by great parents.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you your family.  Rusty is a hero and I know you are very proud of him as you should be.

I DIDN'T KNOW RUSTY AS WELL AS I KNOW THE REST OF HIS  FAMILY, BUT I KNEW HIM ENOUGH TO KNOW HE WAS A SPECIAL PERSON WITH A GOOD FAMILY. I KNOW ALL YOUR HEARTS ARE BROKEN NOT ONLY FOR HIM BUT FOR THE TWO LITTLE BOYS. I HOPE EVERYTHING WORKS OUT IN YOUR LIVES.  AFTER JOHNNY DIED,  THERE WERE TIMES WHEN WE DID NOT KNOW WHEN WE WOULD SEE KENDRICK AGAIN. BUT SO MANY PEOPLE WERE PRAYING FOR HIM AND US AND I BELIEVE THAT IS WHY GOD SEEN FIT TO PLACE HIM WITH US TODAY. GOD HAS BLESSED US TO HAVE CUSTODY OF HIM FOR TWO YEARS THIS MAY. SO I KNOW HE CAN ANSWER PRAYERS, JUST KEEP FAITH THAT HE WILL ANSWER YOURS AS WELL. I HOPE THIS GIVES YOU ALL SOME HOPE. I THANK GOD THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE LEFT IN THIS WORLD AND I THANK GOD FOR YOUR FAMILY. I STARTED A WEBSITE FOR  MY BROTHER ROBERT AND THAT IS HOW I STUMBLED UPON RUSTY'S. A True War Hero  / Anonymous Friend (friend)
I didn't know Rusty as well as most, but I knew him none the same. He was a very polite person with alot of personality and warmth. He was brave for the job he preformed as is his brother and his father too. I am truly sorry and heart felt for his family and all they've been thru, but this will make them stronger so noone can break them apart. I have cried reading all the wonderful thoughts on this page and hope everyone knows what a true hero he was to fight for us. I pray for his family daily. I just want them to know their loss has done for me. I have a baby 7 months old and I thank God for her daily and take everything she does in my heart to keep forever because we don't have the promise of tomorrow. I also have a brother that I hold dear to me and before this family's unfortunate and sad tragedy I never talked to him and I take everything for granted. I pray that God will take care of you all and fill your lifes with much deserved happiness. God Bless You All and know that Rusty was a very loved person by all. Close

Just a note to let the family know that Rusty has not been forgotten, nor will he be forgotten.  I think of him and your broken home daily.  He was a special young man.  I remember seeing him walk into the gym when Brad was on  the bb team and sit with friends sitting below me on  the bleachers.  His smile was so warming.  As we remember Rusty let us continue to pray for others that are continueing in the fight and away from home and loved ones.

We wonder "why"..God has a master plan for our lives. In our lifetime we may never know "why" but after enduring loss of his father at 13 years old, my brother once quoted.."that which does not kill us makes us stronger. " There are no words to fill the emptiness or justify the causes of War, just the grasp for strength to continue our beliefs that every human being of God's creation has been granted by birth the right to freedom and life. RUSTY chose to STAND UP for others less fortunate....others whom were opperesed..children he did not know but were in need. Mothers who’s babies had no chance at freedom..HE was willing to dedicate his LIFE for this cause...by his own choice......WHAT A GREAT MAN !!!! He sits at the throne of GOD NOW...and we must weep tears of joy knowing that when we reach HEAVEN....Rusty will be one of GODS CHOSEN....Chosen by God to serve in the fight for freedom as Joshua fought the battle of Jericho so did Rusty fight the Battle for FREEDOM for all God's People !!!
