My Friend / Jordan Orick (One of my Best Friend's )
Rusty you've been gone for a few years and I miss you as much as ever. (prob more). Everytime you would come home from overseas you'd always come to my place almost right away. And you'd always call me from overseas. I sure miss those visits and calls more than you could ever know. I have lots of memories like the last time that you came over. It was you Sherwood and "Red". Had no idea that I would never see you again. Anyways your memory lives on strong. I sure do miss ya and of course I love ya bro. Close
Always on my mind / Jonathan Carter (barracks roomate/friend )
To Rusty and his family,
All of you are always in my prayers and on my mind. Rusty was a great man. He knew how to make you laugh and he had a great attitude about life. I remember once he let us borrow his old red and white truck and we almost got in an accident and when we told him he just laughed it off. Anyways, always in my thoughts and prayers.

They say there is a reason, They say that time will heal, But neither time nor reason, Will change the way we feel. For no-one knows the heartache, That lies behind our smiles, No-one knows how many times We have broken down and cried. We want to tell you something So there won't be any doubt, You're so wonderful to think of But so hard to live without!
Thank You / Lucy Mejia

Rusty, Rest well in the mighty hands of God! / Cindy Carroll (Passer-by)
We are bound by more than just the grief we share at the untimely losses of our loved ones. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and the Lord tells us that one of the greatest commandments is to "Love our neighbor". Our children have shown the greatest love known to man, for they were willing to lay down their lives for their neighbor's freedom. We are deeply saddened at your loss of your husband, son, brother and friend. Your deep love for him tells me that he was a fine young man and a man to be admired and to be proud of. We thank you for visiting our website for our young soldier, SSG Paul C. Mardis. I often think of how many fine young lives have been called home, but we will see them soon! The pain of the loss never goes away, but celebrate Rusty's life with tears and laughter, live life with robust for you are living for him! A very dear friend of mine, left this scripture on Paul's tribute page and I see that she has been to visit yours also, Garnet Jenkins. She lost her brother in Vietnam in 1967. Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. I will pray that our Lord will wrap his loving arms around you and cradle you in his embrace and he will comfort you and wipe away your tears until the day you see Rusty again. Rusty may you rest well in the mighty hands of God! God Bless you and comfort you Washam family! Your Sister in Christ Cindy Carroll Close
